Lyra Wind Farm Community
The future development of onshore wind is vital to achieving Ireland’s energy strategy, to tackle the challenges of combating climate change while also ensuring a secure electricity and energy supply now and for future generations. Now more than ever, communities want to be a part of a positive change in Ireland’s renewable energy landscape.
Lyra Wind Farm has the potential to bring significant positive benefits to local communities in Mayo. Through the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) all projects must establish a Community Benefit Fund that must be used for the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the local community.
One key emphasis is that communities should benefit directly from all the renewable electricity projects being supported by the scheme thus enabling communities to be part of the decision-making.
The proposed Lyra Wind Farm project has the potential to participate in the Government’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS) auction process.
