Lyra Wind Farm
The proposed Lyra Wind Farm project is situated in the west of Ireland in Co. Mayo, approximately 7km southeast of Westport, and 2.2km southeast of Aghagower Village and 9.5km west of Ballintubber Village. The area under investigation is situated in the townlands of Cordarragh South, Corveagh Upper and Teevinish West. Much of the proposed turbine area is located at an elevation of between 100m and 200m above sea level.

Benefits
Lyra Wind Farm has the potential to bring significant positive benefits to local communities. The project will support local employment, while contributing an income to the local authorities through annual commercial rates. It will provide opportunity for a local Community Benefit Fund in line with the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS).
Economic benefits throughout construction and operation for local businesses such as sourcing of local products, materials and services. Within the industry there are many opportunities for employment and to date over 6000 jobs have been created.
One of Irelands strongest assets is onshore renewable energy development. The project will generate clean renewable energy for Ireland, thus reducing the need to use fossil fuels. This both improves Ireland’s CO₂ footprint and reduces Irelands vulnerability to fluctuations in fuel pricing and our dependency on fossil fuels.
